Port Isabel/South Padre Island guide Capt. Gencho Buitureira Jr reports that the South Texas snook bite is getting hot as summer fades to fall. Capt. Gencho says he's finding plenty of willing snook both on the flats and in the deep water areas such as the Brownsville Ship Channel. He expects the fish to stay active on the flats until the first few hard fronts push through the area, at which time he says the vast majority of the snook will relocated to their winter home in the Ship Channel. So, those looking to catch snook in skinny water should make plans to fish during the remainder of September or October.
