Hot Bite in Coastal Bend
Capt. Kevin McCoy of Reel McCoy Guide Service says fishing has been on fire in the Coastal Bend region for the past few weeks. McCoy expects the hot bite to continue as summer blends to fall over the next month or so. #lonestarsalt #portaransas #texassaltwaterfishing #texastroutfishing #saltwaterfishing #aransaspass #speckledtrout #redfish

Grinding Out Limits in Seadrift, TX
Slow and steady won the race today in these post spawn conditions. The boys grinded through 100s of small male trout to find their keeper fish.
It was kind of a good teaching tool for the newcomers to lure fishing. They learned quick and understood how the trout wanted it presented.
We fished a wide range of depths over sand/grass, as well as some oyster shell . Our best baits today were DSL’s Strawberry Wine, Kickin’ Chicken, and Victorious Secret.

Grinding Out Good Catches in Tough Conditions
The last couple of days have been tough, running out into a 15-20mph west wind and tides that look like we should be in late January. Trout that have been holding on the edge of sand/grass have either fell out further into the bay or are just laying there. Rather than working an area of scattered fish, we have run into no bites for 50-100 yards out of the boat, then hit 4-6 fish just as fast as you can. Followed by another 100 yards of nothing. The bait fish are still in thes

Waist Deep Wading Pays Off
Had a fun morning walking waist deep sand pockets on the hunt for big trout. We were throwing Down South Lures super models in Chicken of the C and Victorious Secret.
We released all our fish today and didn't have a fish under 20", we did see a few in the 7-8# range but could only manage a 5.5# at 25" as our biggest fish for that wade.
With trout spawning on a regular basis due to warm spring/summer time temps, these pockets of bigger trout will continue to be found. Th

Trout Bite Picking Up on Lower Laguna
Left to right, Sarai Mancias, Soledad Mancias and Sandra Rodriguez, all from Pharrell, TX, show off a few of the speckled trout they caught on a recent trip with Capt Gencho in the Lower Laguna. Trout season is here! Trout are scattered all over the bay, hitting off and on south of Long Bar, as well as east and west of Long Bar. These fish are being caught on live shrimp under popping cork, GULP!s, GULP!s under maulers, soft-plastics and topwaters. Airport Cove also has some

Trophy Trout Time in Seadrift, Texas
For the most part over the last several days, our south shoreline remains to be gin clear. There are some small areas that have dirty streaks on them. These small areas of dirty streaks are holding bait, and a handful of fish, but some of the areas I have been concentrating on are windward banks of our outside shorelines. With the passing low pressure system, our wind forecast has had lots of east in the wind. Not too strong at times, but just enough to dirty up the north

Fishing on the Upswing in Seadrift
I don’t know if it was because the weather finally straightened up, or I settled down and went about my strategy the right way, but today was a complete turn around from the last 4 or 5.
Last last few days we have caught trout and a few reds, but not the big trout I target this time of year. As soon as we stepped out of the boat today we were getting bites, and we managed to find a few areas with no pressure on them. Landed several fish in the 3-5# range and a good number o

Big Trout Still Biting
We found a few this morning, where we left them yesterday afternoon. The bite started off good with a handful of fat fish, but then tappered off. Mid-day was a toughbite with a few reds and keeper size trout caught. The last wade of the evening showed some us some good fish. Good way to end the day, back at it tomorrow! #saltwaterfishing #texastroutfishing #texasfishing #texassaltwaterfishing
