The last couple days here in Seadrift has been a strange bite. Our bigger fish have either scattered with the rise in tide or recovering from a spawn. I know it’s early in the year for that, but we have caught 100’s of small male trout the last two days, it’s the only explanation I can figure out. We are still catching a lot of keeper size fish mixed in with the smalls, and plastics have worked better than Corkys or topwaters. Curious to see what happens later in the week if
Yes, it is winter, but the fishing (and temperatures) remain hot up and down the Texas coast. In addition to good numbers of speckled trout, redfish, flounder, black drum and other species being reported, trophy trout are beginning to become more common catches as well. Now through March is prime trophy trout time and the conditions are shaping up for an outstanding start to coastal fishing in 2020. #texasfishing #saltwaterfishing #speckledtrout #redfish #flounder #blackdrum
Mike Sotelo and his dad, Oscar, teamed up to complete a South Texas Grand Slam on a recent trip with Port Isabel guide Capt Gencho Buitureira. Their slam was highlighted by this 35 1/2-inch snook. Capt Gencho says fishing in the Lower Laguna Madre has been hot and is only getting better as fall approaches. #speckledtrout #redfish #snook #flounder #portisabel #southpadreisland #southtexasslam #saltwaterfishing #texasfishingreports #texassaltwaterfishing
Capt. Kevin McCoy of Reel McCoy Guide Service says fishing has been on fire in the Coastal Bend region for the past few weeks. McCoy expects the hot bite to continue as summer blends to fall over the next month or so. #lonestarsalt #portaransas #texassaltwaterfishing #texastroutfishing #saltwaterfishing #aransaspass #speckledtrout #redfish
Despite dodging a few much needed rain showers, the topwater bite was great. Both trout and reds crushed it walking over knee to thigh deep sand pockets.
Once the wind laid between storms we, switched to DSL strawberry wine and Mirrodines. Walking thigh deep to waist deep we had a good mix of trout from 16 to 25 inches, redfish were 22 to 24 inches. #wadefishing #SanAntonioBay #texassaltwaterfishing #lonestarsalt #saltwaterfishing #speckledtrout #texasfishingreports
Slow and steady won the race today in these post spawn conditions. The boys grinded through 100s of small male trout to find their keeper fish.
It was kind of a good teaching tool for the newcomers to lure fishing. They learned quick and understood how the trout wanted it presented.
We fished a wide range of depths over sand/grass, as well as some oyster shell . Our best baits today were DSL’s Strawberry Wine, Kickin’ Chicken, and Victorious Secret.

According to Port Isabel guide Capt Gencho Buitureira Jr, fishing in the Lower Laguna Madre has been hot as of late. Gencho says his clients have been boating a variety of species, including flounder, black drum, redfish, speckled trout and snook. This multi-species action should hold up through the end of summer. #texassaltwaterfishing #lowerlagunamadre #lonestarsalt #portisabel #speckledtrout #blackdrum #redfish #snook #flounder
Great day one with this North Texas family. Took us a bit to find a consistant bite, and when we did it was all smiles. Crotch to waist deep grass beds with rafts of bait, throwing DSL’s Victorious Secret and Strawberry Wine did the trick.
The North wind was giving us trouble on day two, not many bites on the trout. But, did manage to have a customer land his PB on a DSL strawberry wine, Fins Braid 20# windtamer, and a 7’6” Waterloo salinity. The trout was 25”@4.25#, she w
Fishing in the Lower Laguna Madre has been on fire since Memorial Day Weekend. Anglers are racking up easy limits of both speckled trout and redfish. Several jumbo-sized specks have been reported as well. Additionally, tarpon and snook fishing has been going strong. From all indications, this should be an outstanding summer of fishing in the waters surrounding Port Isabel, South Padre Island and Port Mansfield. #lowerlagunamadre #speckledtrout #redfish #texasfishingreports #l
Fishing has been good in the Lower Laguna Madre over the past week. Anglers have been catching lots of solid speckled trout -- including some top end fish in the 28-30 inch range. Bull reds are good at the jetties and slot reds are all over the flats, as are black drum. Tarpon fishing has been phenomenal at the jetties and the snook bite has been outstanding. Pictured above is Capt. Gencho Buitureira with a nice snook he caught this week. #snook #lowerlagunamadre #texasfishin
