Grinding Out Solid Specks in Seadrift
These boys stuck with it today as we bounced from shoreline to shoreline trying to find a bite. Got on one stretch which had reds holding in shin deep water, but as we sight casted to them they wouldn’t even flinch. Finally we ended up in an area with all the right ingredients, rafts of mullet and stained water. Throwing DSL super model Salt Sassyon an 1/8oz. jig head, we were bowed up on 17-21” trout. Great way to end the day with good customers. Thanks boys for staying with

Trout Bite Picking Up on Lower Laguna
Left to right, Sarai Mancias, Soledad Mancias and Sandra Rodriguez, all from Pharrell, TX, show off a few of the speckled trout they caught on a recent trip with Capt Gencho in the Lower Laguna. Trout season is here! Trout are scattered all over the bay, hitting off and on south of Long Bar, as well as east and west of Long Bar. These fish are being caught on live shrimp under popping cork, GULP!s, GULP!s under maulers, soft-plastics and topwaters. Airport Cove also has some

Trophy Trout Time in Seadrift, Texas
For the most part over the last several days, our south shoreline remains to be gin clear. There are some small areas that have dirty streaks on them. These small areas of dirty streaks are holding bait, and a handful of fish, but some of the areas I have been concentrating on are windward banks of our outside shorelines. With the passing low pressure system, our wind forecast has had lots of east in the wind. Not too strong at times, but just enough to dirty up the north

Fishing on the Upswing in Seadrift
I don’t know if it was because the weather finally straightened up, or I settled down and went about my strategy the right way, but today was a complete turn around from the last 4 or 5.
Last last few days we have caught trout and a few reds, but not the big trout I target this time of year. As soon as we stepped out of the boat today we were getting bites, and we managed to find a few areas with no pressure on them. Landed several fish in the 3-5# range and a good number o

Personal Best Trout at Port Mansfield

Big Trout Still Biting
We found a few this morning, where we left them yesterday afternoon. The bite started off good with a handful of fat fish, but then tappered off. Mid-day was a toughbite with a few reds and keeper size trout caught. The last wade of the evening showed some us some good fish. Good way to end the day, back at it tomorrow! #saltwaterfishing #texastroutfishing #texasfishing #texassaltwaterfishing

Late Bite Following Front
After another big cold snap, which I saw no dead fish down there anywhere I traveled, the bite didn't get going until mid morning each day. We watched as the water temp would climb into the high 50's to lower 60's. Most of our fish were caught in crotch deep water, with the exception of a few reds caught in knee deep water. The water color was great, just enough to make out the outline of the sand pockets. We would scatter out and bomb each sand pocket we came to three or fou

Mixed Bags Being Caught on Mid-Coast
Great day on the water. It took us a few stops to get it dialed in, and the key was finding the rafts of mullet. Under that mullet were 16-19” trout and mid-slot reds. We had our fair share of smalls, but hard to leave when the next bite was solid. DSL Pumpkinseed, Strawberry Wine, and Corky Softdine XL’s helped us put fish in the box. Winter Discount ends February 28th, call or text for open dates. #texasfishing #saltwaterfishing

Cold Water and Healthy Trout
Yup! Cold weather and healthy trout, gotta love fishing on days like this. DSL Roach and Corky Fatboys had their work out today on solid 2-4# trout and a handful of redfish. Still have the 29th-1st open if anybody wants to go. Capt. Nathan Beabout
