Grinding Out Good Catches in Tough Conditions
The last couple of days have been tough, running out into a 15-20mph west wind and tides that look like we should be in late January. Trout that have been holding on the edge of sand/grass have either fell out further into the bay or are just laying there. Rather than working an area of scattered fish, we have run into no bites for 50-100 yards out of the boat, then hit 4-6 fish just as fast as you can. Followed by another 100 yards of nothing. The bait fish are still in thes

Summer South Texas Snook Bite is Hot
According to Port Isabel guide Capt Gencho Buitureira Jr, the South Texas snook bite is still hot. Pictured above is Kelly Doyle from Austin with a nice Lower Laguna Madre snook he caught and released on a recent trip with Gencho. Anglers and guides are reporting good catches of linesiders in the Brownsville Ship Channel, the Hwy 48 bridge, South Bay, Mexiquito Flats, and along the mangrove shorelines and spoil islands as far north as Cullen's. #snook #lowerlagunamadre #texas

Great Day of Wadefishing
The plan came together today. Our first wade over thigh to waist deep sand pockets produced good numbers of trout. The water was chalky green and the baits that worked best were White Ice, Dirty Tequila, and Pumpkinseed. Lunch time we decided to walk knee deep flats looking for cruising reds, and after an hour or so of walking, 3 pods of 10-15 reds showed up in front of us. Gold spoons and Pumpkinseed is what we threw, but I don’t believe it really mattered! Lol Give me a ca

June Started Strong in Seadrift
Good way to kick off June! New customers who are taking part of our Fish N Gig package grinded it out for some nice trout and snagged a few reds out of a small pod.
Mixed in with the reds was a healthy trout, who was released to fight another day. Most fish today were caught in knee to thigh deep water in rafts of mullet throwing a variety of baits. Salt Sassy and Victorious Secret for the off colored water, and Strawberry Wine, Blue Moon, and Pumpkinssed for the trout gre

Grinding Out Solid Specks in Seadrift
These boys stuck with it today as we bounced from shoreline to shoreline trying to find a bite. Got on one stretch which had reds holding in shin deep water, but as we sight casted to them they wouldn’t even flinch. Finally we ended up in an area with all the right ingredients, rafts of mullet and stained water. Throwing DSL super model Salt Sassyon an 1/8oz. jig head, we were bowed up on 17-21” trout. Great way to end the day with good customers. Thanks boys for staying with

Trout Bite Picking Up on Lower Laguna
Left to right, Sarai Mancias, Soledad Mancias and Sandra Rodriguez, all from Pharrell, TX, show off a few of the speckled trout they caught on a recent trip with Capt Gencho in the Lower Laguna. Trout season is here! Trout are scattered all over the bay, hitting off and on south of Long Bar, as well as east and west of Long Bar. These fish are being caught on live shrimp under popping cork, GULP!s, GULP!s under maulers, soft-plastics and topwaters. Airport Cove also has some

Windy Weather Reds
Aransas Pass guide Capt. Marvin Engel has been able to grind out good catches of redfish this week despite incredibly strong spring winds. Engel reports winds in excess of 30 miles per hour at times, limiting the available fishing spots and making moving around the bay much more difficult. However, persistence has paid off as Engel has consistently been putting his clients on reds even with the strong winds. #redfish #texassaltwaterfishing #lonestarsalt #aransaspass #portaran

Fishing on the Upswing in Seadrift
I don’t know if it was because the weather finally straightened up, or I settled down and went about my strategy the right way, but today was a complete turn around from the last 4 or 5.
Last last few days we have caught trout and a few reds, but not the big trout I target this time of year. As soon as we stepped out of the boat today we were getting bites, and we managed to find a few areas with no pressure on them. Landed several fish in the 3-5# range and a good number o
